Puttenham Eco Camping Barn

barn open day IMG_0532_outside

Puttenham Eco Camping Barn offers simple overnight accommodation in south-east England for walkers, cyclists and horse riders.

It inspires an imaginative vision with a strong environmental emphasis.

Our Camping Barn provides reasonably priced wardened accommodation for up to 11 visitors - similar to, but more basic than a Youth Hostel.

It is ideally located, situated in west Surrey on the North Downs Way and Sustrans cycle route 22 between Guildford and Farnham, at a point not served by any Youth Hostels.

When are we open?

The coronavirus outbreak means that we are all living through very uncertain times. We reluctantly had to decide that Puttenham Eco Camping Barn will be closed for the remainder of 2020. We plan to re-open for Easter 2021, at the beginning of April. Please keep checking back for the latest information. (6 December 2020)

We wish you and all those you know good health and strength in this difficult period.

Booking is essential; refer to the Bookings page for more details.

See our Bookings page also for any special offers.

And see what other people think - our visitors book.

Environmentally friendly...

Our wonderful old listed building has been sympathetically restored to be environmentally friendly. We have rainwater harvesting, solar electricity and solar hot water. The restoration we have carried out enables you to see traditional and sustainable construction methods. A lockable cycle storage shed is available - designed by cyclists for cyclists! In addition to the sleeping area there is also a communal kitchen and a shower-room. The barn does its best to cater for people with disabilities.

Despite its age, our camping barn is fully equipped with fire warning and emergency lighting systems, and these are regularly inspected for correct operation. Electrical appliances are regularly tested for safety.

See the history of the barn, as researched and written by Nansi Taylor.

This is our communal kitchen, with full cooking facilities provided.

Project Oasis North Downs is a registered charity originally set up to achieve this ambitious project. The charity's role now has progressed into one of maintaining the barn into the future. Please help by becoming a supporter of POND, or by donating money, time or skills in one of the many ways that you could help.

Project Oasis North Downs is a registered charity, No. 1053871.
